G.I. Joe Extreme was the first totally independent animated revival of the G.I. Joe franchise. Although within the continuity of the original series, few references were made to it. Instead we see a new team of Joes operating in a post-Cold War world now racked by chaos and carnage. The Joes battled the forces of SKAR (Soldiers of Kaos, Anarchy, and Ruin) and independent mercenaries who sought to further destablize an already unstable world.
